What’s your favorite Roald Dahl book? The Witches, The BFG, and James and the Giant Peach are all good choices, but no one can deny that Matilda‘s the real classic. Well, the book is finally making its Broadway debut this spring (25 years after the publication of Dahl’s original story) when Matilda the Musical opens on April 11 at the Shubert Theatre — and we’ve got an exclusive teaser trailer with fans and those involved in the production (including the actresses playing Matilda in the different showings) talking about their excellent source material.
Matilda the Musical revolves around a precocious little girl who defies the odds (bad parents, a lonely childhood, and a vicious headmistress) to live the life of her dreams. The production, which opened in London’s West End in November 2011, earned a record-breaking seven 2012 Olivier Awards, including Best Musical and a joint Best Actress Award for the four girls who shared the title role.
