What’s old is new again! Cartoon Network announced a slate of new original and acquired programming, which included a revival of classics Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, and Bugs Bunny.
The Tom and Jerry Show, which will preserve the feel of the original rival cat-and-mouse series but take it into high-definition, will premiere April 9 at 5:30 p.m. ET. Be Cool Scooby-Doo! is a 22-minute comedy that brings the gang back together with a modern twist as they hit the road in the Mystery Machine. Wabbit — A Looney Tunes Production will star Bugs Bunny in a compilation of shorts with well-known characters such as Yosemite Sam and Wile E. Coyote, as well as new characters.
Among the other 11 new originals and acquired programming is the network’s first-ever 10-part miniseries Over the Garden Wall, with Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings trilogy), Collin Dean (The War at Home), and Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men). The cable net also has 13 returning series.
With a renewed focus on digital, Cartoon Network will also launch later this year an initiative called Cartoon Network Anything, which will allow users to receive content (games, trivia, activities, etc.) via mobile phones and devices.
