'Fairly Oddparents' exclusive: Season 9 will premiere...

FAIRLY-ODDPARENTS

Get ready for more wands, wings, and floaty crowny things. Nickelodeon’s third-longest running Nicktoon ever will return for an all-new season Saturday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m.

Though a few one-off OddParents specials have aired already this year, the May 4 episode is the official start of season 9 — a milestone of which Fairly OddParents creator Butch Hartman is understandably proud.

The animator tells EW that while the show has certainly evolved since its 2001 premiere — fairy godfather Cosmo, for example, has become “really stupid” because “the dumber we made him, the more jokes we could write” — its core values have stayed intact, even though its original viewers aged out of Nickelodeon’s audience long ago.

'30 Rock,' 'Arrested Development,' 'Breaking Bad' actors unite for Nickelodeon's 'Sanjay and Craig'

A Calvin and Hobbes-esque series that stars alumni of four culty classics from the ’00s — and is produced by the guys who created The Adventures of Pete & Pete? Nickelodeon’s upcoming animated series Sanjay and Craig is clearly aimed at 20-somethings as well as their young nieces and nephews — and given the talent involved, this attempt to attract young adults just might work.

Like Disney’s similarly-named Phineas and Ferb, Sanjay and Craig follows the misadventures of its two title characters: excitable 12-year-old dreamer Sanjay (voiced by 30 Rock‘s Maulik Pancholy) and his best friend, a tricky anthropomorphic snake called Craig (The Nerdist‘s Chris Hardwick). Today, Sprout announced its new crop of original programming aimed at children ages 2-5 and their parents. Expect pandas, shrinking kids, and lots of wordplay. Here’s a list of the shows to look forward to:

-Ruff-Ruff, Tweet & Dave: Debuting next year, this interactive game show allows audience members to answer multiple choice questions, on their smart phones or tablets, as the main characters move through different lands. Ruff-Ruff is a dog, tweet is a bird, but Dave, excitingly enough, is a panda.

-The Chica Show:  Lovable chicken, Chica, returns July 29 for her second season. Look for new adventures like ”Fashion Fun, Starstruck Dreams and a Dinosaur Romp.” READ FULL STORY »

For audiences left wondering what happened to the simian star of NBC’s Animal Practice, we have an answer: EW has learned exclusively that Crystal the Monkey will appear in a guest spot as an old friend of Scott Baio’s David on his Nick at Nite sitcom, See Dad Run. She is, in fact, on set this week shooting an episode.

See Dad Run follows David’s readjustment to family life with three kids after the sitcom that made him famous ends, while his actress wife (Alanna Ubach) returns to work. A new episode airs this Sunday at 8 p.m. on Nick at Nite, a half-hour that finds David trying out new parenting techniques. Should he be a tiger? A helicopter? (Hilarity ensues.)

Crystal (the Monkey) will first appear on See Dad Run this fall. One time she wore a dress on the red carpet.
