The 'Artemis Fowl' movie: Let's dream-cast it!

The Weinstein Company and Walt Disney Studios recently announced that they’re teaming up to adapt Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl for the big screen. Written by Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix screenwriter Michael Goldenberg and executive produced by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, the film will combine the first two books in the eight-book series into one story. Readers young and old of the popular sci-fi/fantasy YA series have been waiting for the Fowl film adaptation since 2001 when Miramax purchased the films rights. After 12 years of watching it languish in development hell, we have more than a few ideas about who should play the live-action version of Colfer’s beloved characters. READ FULL STORY

'Scandal' actor joins Jennifer Lopez-produced drama 'The Fosters' -- EXCLUSIVE

The Fosters — a one-hour daytime drama that follows a pair of lesbian mothers (Teri Polo and Sherri Saum) and their multi-ethnic family — is about to get a whiff of Scandal.

ABC Family tells EW that actor Sam McMurray has landed the recurring role of Frank Foster, the “gruff but loveable divorced father” of Polo’s character, Stef. Fans of Shonda Rhimes’s addictive ABC series may recognize McMurray as Pat Wexler, the U.S. Attorney who fired fellow lawyer David Rosen (Josh Malina) earlier this season.

ABC Family says that while Frank seems to get along with his daughter, he also “makes it painfully clear that he still harbors reservations about her lifestyle.” In that, the character isn’t alone — the anti-gay group One Million Moms announced that it was preemptively boycotting The Fosters (and executive producer Jennifer Lopez) last October, long before the pilot had been shot or even cast.

The Fosters will premiere Monday, June 3.

'Animal Practice' monkey to guest on Nick at Nite sitcom

For audiences left wondering what happened to the simian star of NBC’s Animal Practice, we have an answer: EW has learned exclusively that Crystal the Monkey will appear in a guest spot as an old friend of Scott Baio’s David on his Nick at Nite sitcom, See Dad Run. She is, in fact, on set this week shooting an episode.

See Dad Run follows David’s readjustment to family life with three kids after the sitcom that made him famous ends, while his actress wife (Alanna Ubach) returns to work. A new episode airs this Sunday at 8 p.m. on Nick at Nite, a half-hour that finds David trying out new parenting techniques. Should he be a tiger? A helicopter? (Hilarity ensues.)

Crystal (the Monkey) will first appear on See Dad Run this fall. One time she wore a dress on the red carpet.

'Pretty Little Liars': Roma Maffia cast as the new cop in town -- EXCLUSIVE

Listen up PLL fans! We’ve got some good news for you — and some not-so-good news for our four Little Liars: Two new investigators are coming to the felony-filled town of Rosewood.

The Rosewood PD must not be doing its job (you think?!), because Sean Faris is joining the cast as state investigator Gabriel Holbrook. And EW exclusively learned that Faris won’t be showing up alone: Roma Maffia — known largely for her role as Dr. Liz Cruz on Nip/Tuck — will play Gabe’s partner, Linda Tanner. Maffia’s character will first appear in the fourth episode of the upcoming fourth season, which premieres June 11, and is another state investigator who ABC Family describes as “smart, patient, and with a military background.”
