'Little House on the Prairie' star Melissa Gilbert to publish first picture book -- EXCLUSIVE

Ma and Pa Ingalls must be so proud.

Actress Melissa Gilbert, best known for playing feisty Laura Ingalls on the beloved ’70s and ’80s TV series Little House on the Prairie, will release her first picture book next year. Gilbert’s first book, the New York Times bestselling memoir Prairie Tale, was published in 2009.

Her latest venture is called Daisy and Josephine. The story follows its two titular characters, a shy little girl and the rambunctious pet who draws her out of her shell. It was inspired by Gilbert’s French bulldog, who shares a name with the puppy in her book. The photo above — a picture of Gilbert in her Little House days — will serve as the actress’s author photo.

Gilbert is collaborating with illustrator Julia Kuo, an artist who has previously worked with Newbery Medal-winning author Cynthia Kadohata and New York Times bestselling author Jenny Han.

Daisy and Josephine will hit shelves January 28, 2014.

'Scandal' actor joins Jennifer Lopez-produced drama 'The Fosters' -- EXCLUSIVE

Sam-McMurray.jpg

The Fosters — a one-hour daytime drama that follows a pair of lesbian mothers (Teri Polo and Sherri Saum) and their multi-ethnic family — is about to get a whiff of Scandal.

ABC Family tells EW that actor Sam McMurray has landed the recurring role of Frank Foster, the “gruff but loveable divorced father” of Polo’s character, Stef. Fans of Shonda Rhimes’s addictive ABC series may recognize McMurray as Pat Wexler, the U.S. Attorney who fired fellow lawyer David Rosen (Josh Malina) earlier this season.

ABC Family says that while Frank seems to get along with his daughter, he also “makes it painfully clear that he still harbors reservations about her lifestyle.” In that, the character isn’t alone — the anti-gay group One Million Moms announced that it was preemptively boycotting The Fosters (and executive producer Jennifer Lopez) last October, long before the pilot had been shot or even cast.

The Fosters will premiere Monday, June 3.

Grab your guitars and strap on some goofy goggles: The world’s most inept — and lovable — superheroes are coming back to The Hub.

EW can exclusively reveal that the second season of The Aquabats! Super Show! will premiere this summer on Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m. ET, with a special episode featuring skateboard legend Tony Hawk.

The show follows the adventures of a gang of crime-fighters-slash-bandmates on a mission to “right wrongs, destroy boredom and seek justice for all!” The Aquabats was created by Yo Gabba Gabba‘s Christian Jacobs, who also stars as Aquabats ringleader and lead singer The MC Bat Commander. Its first season debuted last March and won a Daytime Emmy nod for Outstanding Children’s Series just this morning.

Unfamiliar with the Bats? Catch up by watching the whole partially-animated, monster-stuffed, retro-inspired shebang on Hulu.

'Fairly Oddparents' exclusive: Season 9 will premiere...

FAIRLY-ODDPARENTS

Get ready for more wands, wings, and floaty crowny things. Nickelodeon’s third-longest running Nicktoon ever will return for an all-new season Saturday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m.

Though a few one-off OddParents specials have aired already this year, the May 4 episode is the official start of season 9 — a milestone of which Fairly OddParents creator Butch Hartman is understandably proud.

The animator tells EW that while the show has certainly evolved since its 2001 premiere — fairy godfather Cosmo, for example, has become “really stupid” because “the dumber we made him, the more jokes we could write” — its core values have stayed intact, even though its original viewers aged out of Nickelodeon’s audience long ago.

Feast your eyes on the trailer for Dan Krall's 'The Great Lollipop Caper' -- EXCLUSIVE

Fact #1: All children love lollipops. Fact #2: Most children don’t care for capers, by which I mean the edible bud of the deciduous capparis spinosa plant. (You know, the stuff you eat with lox — also a thing kids don’t like.)

These two truths were enough to inspire a new book from prolific animator/author Dan Krall, best known for his work on TV series like Power Puff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, as well as movies including Coraline and How To Train Your Dragon. His latest, the punneriffic The Great Lollipop Caper, follows — you guessed it — a “cranky caper” who hatches a salty plan to win the hearts of children everywhere. Check out the exclusive, silent movie-inspired trailer for the book below.

Happy 30th anniversary, 'Fraggle Rock'! Celebrate with this first look at a new graphic novel -- EXCLUSIVE

FRAGGLE-ROCK-BOXSET.jpg

Dance your cares away / Worry’s for another day / Everybody say / Happy birthday, Fraggle Rock!

That’s right: It’s been three whole decades since Jim Henson’s felt-covered musical romp premiered, introducing the world (or at lest those with HBO) to level-headed Gobo, artistic Mokey, athletic Red, nervous Wembley, and worrywart Boober. And happily, the Fraggles (and their human pals) are giving fans plenty of ways to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Namely: The Hub will air a special three-hour marathon of six classic Fraggle episodes on Sunday, April 21. And on May 14, the Jim Henson company and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment will release a massive, 21-disc 30th Anniversary Collection that includes all four seasons of the show, plus a keychain, and a graphic novel that follows the Fraggles as they set out on an all-new adventure.

Check out a promo for The Hub’s upcoming marathon below — and click onward to get your first look at the graphic novel. Look, Ma — we caught five Fraggles!

Check out ABC's new game show 'Bet On Your Baby,' a 'Minute to Win It' for the toddler set -- EXCLUSIVE

What if you could translate your parenting skills into cold, hard cash — cash that went straight into your kid’s college fund? That’s the premise of Bet on Your Baby, a new ABC game show premiering Saturday, April 13 that’s sort of a mix of Minute to Win It, Candid Camera, and The Newlywed Game.

The basic gist: Parents are charged with predicting what their children will do when tasked with, say, stacking cookies or kicking a ball. If their prediction is right, they’ll win money to sock away for the little one’s college education. If not… well, the kids are probably too young to remember this experience anyway, right?

Host Melissa Peterman (Baby Daddy, Reba) makes her pitch in the video below, which also includes a clip from the show itself. Can an excitable dad correctly guess how many treats his adorable daughter Piper will be able to stack? Watch and find out.

ROMA-MAFFIA.jpg

Listen up PLL fans! We’ve got some good news for you — and some not-so-good news for our four Little Liars: Two new investigators are coming to the felony-filled town of Rosewood.

The Rosewood PD must not be doing its job (you think?!), because Sean Faris is joining the cast as state investigator Gabriel Holbrook. And EW exclusively learned that Faris won’t be showing up alone: Roma Maffia — known largely for her role as Dr. Liz Cruz on Nip/Tuck — will play Gabe’s partner, Linda Tanner. Maffia’s character will first appear in the fourth episode of the upcoming fourth season, which premieres June 11, and is another state investigator who ABC Family describes as “smart, patient, and with a military background.”

'Degrassi': Maya confronts Zig in Friday's finale -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

This season’s drama really comes to a head in June, with a graduation special that sends off the school’s current seniors in style. In the meantime, here’s a juicy clip from this Friday’s official season finale. Poor Maya is finally starting to deal with her boyfriend Cam’s suicide by acting out — going as far as kissing another guy, then posting a video of the makeout session on her Facerange profile. (Gotta love Degrassi‘s fake technology.)
