Donald Duck and Daisy Duck are feeling blue. Why? Because “Mr. Hublot” beat out “Get a Horse!” for Best Animated Short.

Er… the specifics don’t really matter. What does matter is that Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are determined to cheer up their pals with smiles, sunshine, and a particularly perky song. Will their efforts work? We’ll find out later this week, when Disney premieres its latest “Mickey Mouse” short — but in the meantime, get a preview of Mickey and Minnie’s antics with this exclusive clip.

The mouse isn’t in the house — he’s on a horse.

In the new black-and-white short, “Get A Horse!” viewers can join Mickey Mouse as he invites his gal pal Minnie to join him on a musical haywagon ride.  Featuring Walt Disney himself as the voice of Mickey, “Get A Horse!” is a hand-drawn theatrical short that makes its debut August 9 at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim.

Mickey Mouse is back in the house!

The beloved Disney icon is getting another surge of fame with the release of brand-new animation aimed at kids 6-14 that will air on Disney Channel. Kicking off Friday, June 28 the roll-out of comedy cartoons will include new shorts featuring Mickey — as well as Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto — and will be both old-fashioned, with retro 2-D animation, and feature a few “contemporary touches” as well.

In one Mickey Mouse short, “Yodelberg,” Mickey longs to visit Minnie atop her mountaintop chalet but quickly realizes that the threat of avalanche has made the trek up the mountain more challenging than usual. Check out an EW exclusive clip of that short below: READ FULL STORY

Walt Disney Animation Studios is back to being a Mickey Mouse operation.

The corporate mascot will return to the big screen in the animated short Mickey Mouse in ‘Get A Horse!’, a sepia-toned hand-drawn comedy that will use the vocals of Walt Disney himself, who supplied the original voice of the cartoon creation. The announcement comes just a few weeks after The Disney Channel announced Mickey would star in a brand-new collection of TV and online cartoons.

A first image of Mickey as his gal pal Minnie in the logo for the big-screen film has been released by the animation house, which is playing coy about the short’s origins. READ FULL STORY

Disney announces new Mickey Mouse cartoons -- VIDEO

Finally, a mouse you’ll be pleased to welcome into your home!

Disney announced today that Mickey Mouse — the company’s 85-year-old mascot and spirit animal — is set to star in his own set of 19 new cartoon shorts, which will air on Disney Channel and Disney.com starting this June. The series, which is geared toward kids aged 6-14, will combine throwback and modern elements. It’ll be animated in old-fashioned, purposefully retro 2-D, for example, but will feature a few “contemporary touches” as well. Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto will all appear in the shorts as well.
