'Monsters University': See Pixar employees compete in their very own Scare Games -- EXCLUSIVE

As if you needed another reason to wish you worked at Pixar.

Fans of Monsters University know that much of the movie’s second half focuses on the Scare Games, a prestigious competition in which fraternities and sororities duke it out to be named the scariest clan on campus. What those fans may not know, though, is that the Scare Games didn’t exist only onscreen: Pixar held its very own version of the contest on its own college-esque campus.

Why? The reason is simple: “Pixar takes its fun very seriously,” associate producer Nicole Grindle explains in the following exclusive clip.

For more about which events made it into the real-life games — and which team looks best in their matching bandanas — check out this exclusive clip of Pixar’s Scare Games featurette below. May the best monsters humans win!

On the scene at the 'Monsters University' premiere with Billy Crystal, Sean Hayes, and more

Disney and Pixar transformed Hollywood Boulevard into the tailgate of any monster’s dream, Monday night. The blue carpet was bedecked with stately Monsters University columns and arches, the attendees all wore Monsters U royal blue, and a marching band and some acrobatic cheerleaders kicked off the evening with a custom Monsters U chant. Sulley and Mike Wazowski clearly made the right choice when it came to their higher education.

EW was on the scene and spoke to some of the cast and crew, new and old, about the film, the new characters to look forward to, and how to make a wholesome college film.  READ FULL STORY

Remember meeting your college roommate for the first time? You hope to become best friends, but fear he or she may be a walking nightmare.

See baby Mike Wazowski in final 'Monsters University' trailer -- VIDEO

With the release of Monsters University less than a month away, Disney/Pixar has released one final trailer for the eagerly anticipated prequel to 2001’s Monsters, Inc.

In this last preview, there’s a peek at itty-bitty Mike Wazowski (which we also got to see in a Japanese trailer released in March). He’s so cute! But cute is exactly what college student Mike doesn’t want to be — he has long dreamed of becoming a top-notch Scarer. This trailer features Mike working towards that dream and finding his place at college, as he butts heads with his roommate and friend-to-be Sully. Check it out below: READ FULL STORY

'Monsters University': New trailer gives a longer look at Mike and Sully's college life -- VIDEO

School’s almost in session! In just a few short months, Disney/Pixar will unveil its first prequel: Monsters University, which finds Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) of Monsters Inc. as young, fresh-faced co-eds ready to hone their scaring skills.

Of course, there’s more to the movie than lectures and studying — as the film’s UK trailer reveals, Mike and Sully find themselves competing in the Scare Games, a cutthroat contest apparently sponsored by Monsters U’s Greek organizations. (Yes, even monsters have fraternities.) The clip also features Dame Helen Mirren’s Dean Hardscrabble, the living legend who runs the university’s prestigious School of Scaring. Basically, she’s Professor McGonnagall with more legs.

Nathan Fillion, Bonnie Hunt, John Krasinski, more voice cast revealed for Pixar's 'Monsters University' -- EXCLUSIVE

Pixar’s Monsters University is a bit of a class reunion for our favorite creatures of the one-eyed and furry variety. In the prequel, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi will reprise their voice roles from 2001’s Monsters, Inc., but the new film will also feature plenty of new characters.

EW can exclusively reveal more actors who are bringing life to the animated movie’s monsters. Among the talent lending their voices to the film are Nathan Fillion (Castle), John Krasinski (The Office), and Bonnie Hunt (Cheaper By the Dozen).

Hunt’s acceptance into Monsters University marks a return to the Pixar family. She also voiced characters in A Bug’s Life, Cars, Toy Story 3, multiple short films, and even Monsters, Inc., though as a different character than her role in the prequel. READ FULL STORY

'Monsters University' releases recruitment video voiced by Helen Mirren -- VIDEO

You’ve got to hand it to the folks behind Monsters University, the prequel to Monsters, Inc: They’re really committing to every aspect of college. Today brings us a recruitment video for the school that “builds tomorrow’s scarers today.” Via voiceover by Dean Hardscrabble (Helen Mirren) you can see why young monsters would want to attend.

After touting the benefits of classes at Monsters University, the commercial directs you to the website for the college – and it looks just like a real 2013 school. There are directions, admissions requirements, and even a history. It’s been around for quite a long time: The school apparently opened in 1313.

New 'Monsters University' trailer: 'Before they were incorporated' -- VIDEO

How does a monster become a professional “scarer”? By going to college and majoring in scaring of course!

In the new trailer for the Monsters, Inc. prequel Monsters University, Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) are roommates and rivals. Wazowkski has the brains (and the retainer to prove it), but Sulley has the size — and neither seems particularly interested in joining the art club. Watch the full trailer below: READ FULL STORY

'Monsters University': New pics from Mike and Sulley's glory days -- EXCLUSIVE

It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

In two new images from the Pixar prequel Monsters University (out June 21), we see the friendly green cyclops Mike Wazowski (voiced again by Billy Crystal) being held up in the air by his classmate and future Monsters, Inc. co-worker Sulley (voiced by John Goodman).

“This is roughly around the time Mike and Sulley meet,” says director Dan Scanlon, who made the Cars short Mater and the Ghostlight. “They’re at a fraternity party, and this is Mike and Sulley getting off on the wrong foot a little bit.”
