Selena Gomez to headline Radio Disney Music Awards

You know who kids love like a love song? Selena Gomez. So it makes sense that she’ll be headlining the Radio Disney Music Awards, happening April 27. The awards show will then be presented in segments featuring performances, highlights, and behind-the-scenes content across multiple platforms, including Disney channel, Vevo, Radio Disney, and the RadioDisney.com and Disney.com websites.

In a nod to its target demo, the Radio Disney music awards are less “Record of the Year” and more “XOXO – Best Crush Song” and “Ultimate Breakout Star – Biggest Viral Artist.” Other performers at the event include Bridgit Mendler, Cody Simpson, Austin Mahone (who will be opening for Taylor Swift on her upcoming tour), and Coco Jones. No word on whether or not Gomez’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber will be making an appearance and causing a massive tween freakout. READ FULL STORY »

'The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex' gets a premiere date

The one-hour Wizards of Waverly Place reunion special fans have been waiting a year for will air on March 15 (8 p.m. ET/PT), Disney Channel has announced. The special will follow Selena Gomez’s Alex and the rest of the Russo family as they visit long-lost relatives in Tuscany. A spell goes wrong and splits Alex in two, resulting in an Evil Alex who wants to take over the world — and a Good Alex who must stop Evil Alex at any cost. The story leads to a climactic battle between Alex’s two selves atop the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Gomez is also exec producing the special.

A year after the last Wizards of Waverly Place episode aired, we get a first look at art from the one-hour reunion special airing this March, The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex. The special will follow Selena Gomez’s Alex and the rest of the Russo family as they visit long-lost relatives in Tuscany. A spell goes wrong and splits Alex in two, resulting in an Evil Alex who wants to take over the world — and a Good Alex who must stop Evil Alex at any cost. The story leads to a climactic battle between Alex’s two selves atop the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Pretty much all of that is referenced in the concept art below. 'Wizards of Waverly Place' reunion special, starring Selena Gomez, is coming in 2013

You thought Wizards of Waverly Place was over — but everything is not as it seems. Disney has announced that Selena Gomez has signed on to star in and executive produce a one-hour Wizards reunion special, which will air in early 2013. Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, David DeLuise, and Gregg Sulkin will reprise their magical roles as well.

The special will follow Gomez’s Alex and the rest of the Russo family as they visit long-lost relatives in Tuscany. A spell gone awry splits Alex in two, resulting in an Evil Alex who wants to take over the world — and a Good Alex who must stop Evil Alex at any cost. The story leads to a climactic battle between Alex’s two selves atop the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
