'The Neighbors': Have yourself a Larry little Christmas -- EXCLUSIVE CLIP

Ho ho… huh?

Everything’s a little wackier in the world of Hidden Hills, where ABC’s surprisingly delightful sitcom The Neighbors is set. So naturally, when the holiday season rolls around, the ordinary Weaver clan is in for a few unusual treats — thanks to their extraterrestrial neighbors, led by Simon Templeman’s Larry Bird.

Watch 'The Neighbors' go all Broadway: EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Who among us doesn’t know what it is to fall in love with a musical and then only see the world through the prism of song and dance for a time? That’s what happens on tonight’s episode of ABC’s The Neighbors when aliens Larry Bird and Jackie Joyner-Kersee venture out to see a Broadway show (the one about ”a tiny girl who [falls] in love with a bald man called Tomorrow”). Larry is inspired to put on a musical of his own, and we lucky viewers get treated to original  songs composed by Oscar winner Alan Menken. But when things go awry,  the aliens  actually reach to the outside world for help, calling 911. And the quirky family and their fellow aliens get disillusioned with the whole idea of the Great White Way.

Check out the exclusive clip below from the “Sing Like Larry Bird” episode (8:30-9:00 p.m. ET).

'The Neighbors' will air on Disney Channel -- EXCLUSIVE

Craig Sjodin/ABC

Aliens are invading Disney Channel!

That seems to be the story with the news that Disney Channel will air four episodes of ABC’s The Neighbors on Friday Dec. 28 from 8-10 p.m. This is the first time that Disney has run a special presentation of a current ABC show (they are part of the same company).

The Neighbors stars Jami Gertz and Simon Templeman and premiered in September, revolves around a family that moves to a new home only to discover that their neighbors are all aliens (and, strangely enough, all have sports star names).  The show, which has been averaging around 6.5 million viewers an episode for the 10 episodes aired so far, is likely looking to expand its audience and placing it on Disney Channel for a mini-marathon likely wants to drive home to parents that this is a show the whole family can watch together.
