'Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return': First look at new adventure, starring Lea Michele -- EXCLUSIVE

Sure, there’s no place like home — but who would turn down a chance to go back to the merry old land of Oz?

Enter Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, a 3-D animated musical based on Roger Stanton Baum’s 1989 novel Dorothy of Oz. (And yes, Roger is one of those Baums; original Oz author L. Frank was his great-grandfather.) The story follows the heroic Dorothy Gale (Lea Michele) back to the beloved fantasy land, where she and her pals — the Scarecrow (Dan Aykroyd), the Cowardly Lion (Jim Belushi), the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer), and Glinda (Bernadette Peters) must face a wicked new villain: the Jester (Martin Short.)

The film won’t hit theaters for another few months — but you can get a first glimpse at it in the four addition exclusive images below. (Unfortunately, you’ll just have to imagine any Lea/Bernadette duets for now.)

'Wizard of Oz' coming back to theaters for IMAX 3D run

There’s no place like an IMAX movie theater.

The Wizard of Oz, the beloved 1939 classic, is getting a 3D and IMAX makeover and then returning to IMAX theaters for one week starting Sept. 20, EW has confirmed. The studio has remastered the film, so fans will see enhanced yellow brick roads and a glowing green Emerald City.

The re-release is part of the studio’s promotion for Oz‘s 75th anniversary edition, which will arrive Oct. 1. The five-disc set will include a Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD and UltraViolet versions of the film, a new documentary on the making of the movie as well as bonus features, according to USA Today.

Get your midnight costume ready now: Red ruby slippers just became the must-have accessory all over again.
